Critically analyze how  contemporary gender relationship is impacted by the representation of masculinity in the media?  Provide two examples to demonstrate your understanding of how this is achieved.

  • Critically and conceptually analyze the questions outlined below in writing.
  • Do not repeat the assignment question in your answer; proceed directly to answering the question.
  • Use full, grammatically complete sentences.
  • Define the concepts you use.
  • Explore the issue using at least one detailed and concrete example (do not use examples used in the readings or examples discussed in lecture).
  • Aim to capture the complexity of each issue by discussing how it might impact different people in different ways.
  • Your answers should be written as much as possible in your own words, but for each answer, students must use a direct quote from a reading or film.
  • Each question must include a direct quote from one of the readings/films; that reading cannot be repeated for any other question.
  • For example, Giroux’s reading is quoted in Question 1,  students cannot again use this reading in Questions 2 or 3 – a new reading/film must be utilized.
  • If you quote from a reading, limit the number of times that you do so, and ensure that the quotations you include are no longer than two full lines of text each. Answers that overuse quotations will risk receiving a lower grade.
  • When you quote or paraphrase (i.e., put in your own words) the ideas or other contents of a text, give the author credit by including their last name in a round bracket at the end of the quotation or section of your answer in which your paraphrase.
