Summary of an interview
In regards to the question of professionalism, he connects professional to integrity and ethical based actions. According to him, professionalism is being accountable and responsible for the designed duties. He mentions that professionalism is very significant for any health care workers because it affects patients’ life. Therefore, a health care provider should bear the professional responsibility of patient’s care as well as their rights in receiving quality care regardless of their age, income, and race. Moreover, my professional responsibility guides me to make sure that a patient’s health information is private because confidentiality is also a requirement health providers needs to exercise their professionalism. Based on his response, I was able to understand the impact of professionalism in his field during practice.
Based on the question of whether he considers leaders in his organization as stewards of health care, he confirmed that the leaders are stewards of health care. He began by saying that among leaders, it is a necessity that they display their value to the moral actions they expect others to follow suit. The leaders should make sure that the needs of all stakeholders such as the nurses, physicians, and patients are taken care of effectively. According to him, the leaders in his organization are always working towards fostering a strong relationship with the entire staff and allow them to participate in organizational activities that majors on the delivery of quality care. More to this, he said that stewardship of health care was vested on the ethical attributes of leadership. The leadership in his organization has played a key role in fostering a platform of trust and innovation that aid the providers to give quality care to patients. I want to confirm that the interviewee was open to giving information on the behavior and conduct of leaders in his organization.
According to him, leaders need to display professional advocacy and authenticity as well as power and influence when working with colleagues. Professional advocacy is very key, and leaders must exercise it to ensure that the goals of accountable care are attained. Also, he added that power and influence are key aspects that impact how leaders are perceived within the organization. It is apparent that caring for patients can be challenging at times and providers of care should be motivated or inspired to work to ensure a better outcome. Thus, through power and influence, a leader will be able to inspire health care providers to deliver quality care to patients. My peer was able to respond to the question professionally and with high integrity.
