Human Resource Management with International Perspectives

For this second assessment, you are required to write an essay of not more than 2000 words on ONE question
from the three below. This assessment covers 60% of the module mark. The essay must be submitted by 3pm,
Monday 11 January, 2021, through Turnitin on Moodle. Refer to the module outline and university guidelines on
how to prepare your essay for submission, word count, formatting, referencing, penalties for late submission and
1. Explain what you understand by ‘talent’ and ‘talent management’ in organizational contexts, and how talent
management differs, if at all, from human resource management. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of
‘growing’ and ‘buying-in’ talent, with reference to appropriate human resource theories.
2. To what extent do you consider spending on training and development as a cost and as an investment? In your
response, explain how we might we use theories of learning to justify investments in people.
3. With the current Covid 19 pandemic, human resource management as we know it will never be the same
again. Evaluate this statement critically, with reference to appropriate human resource theories and practices.
