: Stress and Communication

The purpose of the Final Project Paper is for you to culminate the learning achieved in the course by describing your understanding and application of knowledge in the field of Organizational Behavior. The Final Paper should also focus on real life, real time application of topics covered in this course; the uses you have seen and the uses you can envision.

Select two topics of interest in organizational behavior that you would like to explore with additional research. Some suggested topics are: 


Personality
Stress
Attitudes
Motivation
Attribution
Performance Management
Team building
Leadership
Decision Making Process
Communication
Organizational Goals

EXTRA CREDIT OPTION: Select a third topic and include in your paper for extra credit.

Your paper must:

Apply the research to your personal working environment, or an environment you have previously experienced. 


Describe how will you use the knowledge you have gained in this course to change the way you interact and do business in the future?

  • Minimum of 5 ½ pages. Maximum of 8 pages. (number of pages does NOT include the title page or the references page, it only includes the actual number of pages of written essay) 
  • APA format required. Use the Purdue OWL if you do not have an APA resource manual: https://owl.purdue.edu/owl/research_and_citation/apa_style/apa_formatting_and_style_guide/general_format.html 
  • An abstract is NOT required. 
  • This is a reflection report so you may use first person. 
  • Minimum of three sources required (one can be our textbook)

Final Paper Outline   

I. Introduction (Title of Paper) 

a. Purpose of paper/introduction (For this length of paper, 1⁄2 to 3⁄4 page at the most is appropriate). Specifically, include a sentence that states your intentions and the flow of this paper explicitly. 

i. Introductory paragraph. At minimum, briefly describe how this paper will address two of several topics studied in HRM 360 that have changed your thinking and/or behavior, and have or will make a difference in your professional and/or personal effectiveness. Also, mention how you will discuss your reactions and reflections from three (3) of the self- assessments you have completed in the course so far. 

II. Analysis 

  • First Organizational Behavior (OB) Topic (3–5 paragraphs for each topic and about 1 ½ to 2 pages max. 

i. Define and briefly describe the concept (topic) and why it is important in OB: identifying major theories and/or theorists as appropriate. 

ii. Connect the concept with your experiences outside the classroom and discuss how your thinking and/or behavior has or will change. 

iii. Describe how you will transfer learning and implement the concept: be specific about the impact of thinking and/or behaving differently. Consider POLC, how might it apply to planning, organizing, leading, and controlling within your organization?

iv. Reflect on your learning and why this concept has or will enhance your professional and/or personal effectiveness. 

b. Second OB Topic 

i. Define and briefly describe the concept (topic) and why it is important in OB: identifying major theories and/or theorists as appropriate. 

ii. Connect the concept with your experiences outside the classroom and discuss how your thinking and/or behavior has or will change. 

iii. Describe how you will transfer learning and implement the concept: be specific about the impact of thinking and/or behaving differently. Consider POLC, how might it apply to planning, organizing, leading, and controlling within your organization?

iv. Reflect on your learning and why this concept has or will enhance your professional and/or personal effectiveness. 

c. Third OB Topic (Optional, for EXTRA CREDIT)

i. Define and briefly describe the concept (topic) and why it is important in OB: identifying major theories and/or theorists as appropriate. 

ii. Connect the concept with your experiences outside the classroom and discuss how your thinking and/or behavior has or will change. 

iii. Describe how you will transfer learning and implement the concept: be specific about the impact of thinking and/or behaving differently. Consider POLC, how might it apply to planning, organizing, leading, and controlling within your organization?

iv. Reflect on your learning and why this concept has or will enhance your professional and/or personal effectiveness. 

d. Reactions and reflections from three (3) of the self-assessments (About 1-2 succinct paragraphs for each assessment) 

i. First assessment. 

ii. Second assessment. 

iii. Third assessment. 

III. Conclusion (For this length of paper, conclusion should be 1⁄2 to 3⁄4 page at the most is appropriate) 

a. Conclusion content. This paper answered…analyzed, etc. Remember to simply re-cap the Introduction and Analysis and do not introduce any new material. A strong final sentence ties in with the first sentence in the work.
