Topic: A RECENT (Within the Past 5 Years) Innovative Solution to a Social Issue

READ THE FOLLOWING as the Basis of the Paper:

Pick a social issue other than the topic of your “State Social Policy Paper.” Research an innovative solution that has brought about transformative results and how this might influence social policy. RECENT means an innovation within the past 5 years of this course. If the innovation was beyond 5 years then the paper will receive a zero grade

Example of RECENT and OLDER SOLUTION on the Issue of Homelessness

  1. RECENT INNOVATIVE WITHIN PAST 5 YEARS – ACCEPTABLE

An example of a recent innovative solution within the past 5 years to the issue of homelessness is “Tiny Houses.” See the article on the “Tiny House Villages in Seattle: An Efficient Response to Our Homelessness Crisis”:

  1. OLDER SOLUTIONS PAST 5 YEARS – NOT ACCEPTABLE

2-1-1 began as Infoline in 1976 as a public/private partnership of United Way and the State of Connecticut.
Section 8 Housing introduced on 1974
A paper based on these older solutions would receive a zero grade.

NOTE THE FOLLOWING IMPORTANT POINTS

The paper cannot be a general type paper.
The paper has to build a compelling case or argument of a recent innovate solution to a pressing social problem.
Online research is necessary
The paper must be coherent from start to finish with each section relating to the next.
Section 2 must relate precisely to Section 1. Section 3 must build on Section 2. Section 4 must build in Sections 3 and 4.
A paper that has independent sections that do not relate to each other will receive a zero grade.
As an academic paper it must have a logical beginning, middle and end.
The paper must show that real research was done.
This paper must be about a pressing social issue. A paper about a non-social issue such as a medical issue or other non-social issue, will result in a zero grade.
The innovative solution must be within the past 5 years. If it is older than 5 years, the paper will receive a zero grade.
The topic must be difference that the topic of the State Policy Research Paper. It the topic is the same, the paper will receive a zero grade.

On the Title Page, Below the Title write the following:

“The issue of my State Social Policy Research Paper was _______ and it is different and not similar to the social issue addressed in this paper”

Your paper has 4 required sections and must be a minimum of 4 pages of content, not including Title or Reference Pages.

Copy and Paste ALL OF THE FOLLOWING 4 SUB-HEADINGS EXACTLY into your paper and then write the minimum number of required pages for each section.
Highlight all sub-titles in BOLD FORMAT.
Include the minimum number of references with Author/Authors in EACH section.

Describe the RECENT innovative approach and process taken in the implementation of the model or pilot program that led to transformative results.
For this Section:

It MUST relate to Section 1
A Minimum of 1 Page.
A minimum of 2 unique references with Author/Authors & YEAR.
Must state the page or pages where the citation is discussed in the journal article or text.
25 Grade Points.

Describe the breakthrough results of the effort, compared to previous efforts, backed with data and evidence.
For this Section:

It MUST relate to Sections 1 and 2
A Minimum of 1 Page.
A minimum of 2 unique references with Author/Authors & YEAR.
Must state the page or pages where the citation is discussed in the journal article or text.
25 Grade Points.

What would be the opportunities and anticipated challenges in adapting this model in your State to solve a similar social problem. How would you advocate for your State to adopt the model? How might it transform social policy related to the issue?
For this Section:

It MUST relate to Sections 2 and 3
A Minimum of 1 Page.
A minimum of 2 unique references with Author/Authors & YEAR.
Must state the page or pages where the citation is discussed in the journal article or text.
25 Grade Points.

REFERENCES

The references can be a combination of Peer Reviewed Journals; Textbooks; Trade Journals (E.g. The Stanford Innovation Review, Social innovations Journal, Etc.); Articles from Well Established Reputable Magazines (Time, Newsweek, The New Republic, The Economist, Etc.); Articles from Well Established Reputable Newspapers (The New York Time, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, etc.).

All references must have an Author/Authors and YEAR. All must be in APA Format in the Body of the Paper and in the Reference Page. All must state the page or pages where the citation is discussed in the article, text, etc.

References that do not comply will result in a 3 points reduction per occurrence.

Paper Format

Adhere to the following guidelines when preparing the paper. The paper must be typed using double spacing, a font size of 12, and one-inch margins.

Use a separate Title Page and put the following: Your name, course name, professor’s name, and paper title.

APA Style

Use APA Style for in-text and reference page references for citing references with author or authors.

Minimum Number of Content Pages

The total length of the paper is to be a minimum of 4 pages of high-quality content, excluding Title Page and Reference Page

Points

100 Course Points will be allocated to the Paper, equivalent to 15% of the overall Course Grade

Due Date

The paper is due on or prior to Day 7 (Sunday) of Course Week 6
