health refers to a state of well-being. Having an ability to realize your own
potentials, coping with life stresses, working productively, and impacting
community positively. Mental health covers biology, habits, and psychological
condition of an individual. Behavioural issues, genes, or brain chemistry can
cause mental disorders. Behavioural health involves evaluating how certain
behaviours of an individual impact their physical or mental health. Behavioural
health disorders are a result of maladaptive behaviours which affect negatively
an individual’s mental or physical condition (Nierengarten, 2017).
Examples of such disorders include sex addiction, substance abuse, and eating
disorders. Behavioural health looks at the connection between health and
behaviour.
