Design and Evaluation

This assignment lets you begin practical consideration of concepts of education and training.
#1 From your experience, select and narrow a course topic and target audience. Think about a 1-hour course session, or plan for students to study and work for about 1 hour, if self-directed. Create a brief statement of key information, based on your knowledge of the topic, the audience, any problem or opportunity that might be addressed in the course, and the learning environment.
“The object of education is to prepare the young to educate themselves throughout their lives.” (BrainyQuote, 2015)
When teaching the twenty-first century learner it is important to address their understanding in regards to the power of technology. Students should not only be provided with the tools needed to effectively use current technology, but to should also be empowered to design and create new and innovative ways to solve problems.
Seventh grade students are highly capable of designing and problem solving if provided with the appropriate information and guidance.
A lesson commonly implemented in a seventh grade IB technology class involves MYP design cycle, in which students are provided with information concerning a methodology for solving design challenges.
#2Create at least 2 correctly written terminal performance objectives, using the ABCD Model approach, that your learners will be expected to meet during the course. Note: Review the Quick Reference Guide to Developing Cognitive Learning Objectives
Objective:By the end of this lessonscholars will be able to understand the basics of the Design Cycle and completes Inquiring and Analyzing along with Developing the Solution portion of the design cycle journal.
Given several design challenges to choose from students will be able to complete critions A and B of the design cycle journal without error.
#3Discuss at least 3 ways in which your instructional design project may be different, if you use the competency-based learning model, rather than the more traditional ADDIE model.
CBL helps to eliminate the gaps created in a traditional class setting.Teachers and students have clear objectives.CBL organizes learning around students needs, interest background or aspirations. It provides genuine assessment through products or demonstration which establishes students mastery of the subject. Student moves forward upon mastery of the subject not being pushed on by a calendar driven scope and sequence. CBL provides opportunity for student driven real world applications of knowledge and successfully engages in students in their learning.
#4 Discuss the advantages and difficulties in using terminal performance objectives that address the affective domain, rather than the cognitive domain.
#5 Explain how you would use Gagne’s 9 events of instruction with an adult audience, in a face-to-face setting, and compare and contrast your methodology with the use of the model with a group of online high school students.
#6What data do you want to study to tell you the effectiveness of an eighth-grade class? Why? What data do you want to study to tell you the effectiveness of a training program for first-line supervisors? Why?
