The focus of this is to develop an in-depth understanding of the sequence of events that are associated with the
progression of atherosclerotic lesions from fatty streaks through to thrombosis.
Supported by evidence from the
current literature, your final presentation should identify and describe a new candidate that could potentially be
targeted for the treatment of atherosclerosis. Your final presentation should not only
highlight the key stages during the development of atherosclerosis, but describe some of the molecular
mechanisms and pathways utilised by the various cell types involved in disease progression that relate to the
specific stage of atherosclerosis that your candidate is involved in.
Pick a target e.g. a specific pathway, gene, protein, enzyme or a specific type of cell involved and contributed to
Atherosclerosis that can be targeted.
Do not pick these targets:
- apolipoprotein E
- CD40 signaling
-smooth muscle cells
