Write a three page paper that answers the following questions: How did the artistic, intellectual, and social period in the 1920s and 30s known as the Harlem Renaissance contribute to Black Liberation then and now? Specifically, how did the writers Langston Hughes and Zora Neale Hurston use their short stories as tools of Black Liberation?

You will need to quote from the Hughes and Hurston short stories to prove your points. You should devote one paragraph of discussion to each of the five short stories you read: “Cora Unashamed,” “Home,” and “Poor Little Black Fellow” by Hughes “ and “Sweat” and “The Gilded Six-Bits” by Hurston. Begin your paper with a few sentences describing the Harlem Renaissance and explain what Black Liberation means.
